The study of the National Energy Demand for the period 2012-2050 was carried out within the framework of the IAEA RLA 2/0/15 Project «Support for the elaboration of National Energy Plans in order to satisfy the energy needs in the countries of the region making effective use of resources in the medium and long term», sponsored by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The work was carried out using the Model for the Analysis of Energy Demand (MAED) and involves energy demand at the national level, including the requirements of the different economic sectors, considering new technologies in the processes of energy conversion and electricity generation, consumption habits, energy policy, the economic and technological growth of the country, the large mining, industrial, infrastructure, export projects, etc., consolidated in the gross domestic product (GDP) at the sectoral and total level for the period 2012– 2050. In the investigation, 2012 was considered as the base year because it is the period when the country has complete official information and scenarios of low, medium or trend and high growth. The results indicate that the energy consumed in 2012 2050 is 68.56 GWa for the medium scenario, for the high scenario and 60.25 GWa for the low growth scenario.
